Wanted to give an update on a student...
I recently had to call CPS (DCS) based on a story that a student had reported to me. Ended up being a good call to make. Long story, see previous posts...
I heard from Dad on Monday. (phone call was made on Friday before). I'm holding my breath as I answer the phone because this can gone one of several different ways not many are positive outcomes. I just kept praying that Dad didn't give me another reason to call.
Dad starts off saying that he is upset that son was hit in the head during math class and nothing was done about it. Whoa dad.. I spoke with the teacher (who says there was an almost altercation and he didn't see student get hit in the head) had student write a statement and gave it to the dean who wasn't in the building that day. Told Dad I'm sure that the dean will follow up on it when he returns tomorrow.
Dad then starts in on the CPS phone call. (aww hell) Dad says he's not upset about the phone call. We were only our jobs in light of what is going on in a local school corporation. Umm no dad these aren't even close. Local school corpation had a staff member have sex with a few teenagers and failed to report it for 6 days after the knew about it. This situation is your son accusing you of something. Yeah not a like.
Dad's arguments for this situation. This is a very serious situation that could land him jail. Yep. He has talked with all of the people involved with him as this is a serious situation. This is the student making up stories because he is afraid that he is going to get in trouble. Trouble for what? Helping a student cheat on a math test. Umm this was told to me before math class. Also - these students were working as a pair. If the teacher can't figure that they are working together I'm not even going to go there.
I explained to Dad that I was sorry that I didn't get some information to him on Friday. He said that was fine as this was a bad weekend. Student had a swim meet and he didn't do as well as the father thought he should do. Yeah uh huh. I told Dad hey at least he is swimming in a meet. Better than I could do right now.
Then Dad went on a tirade about how his son has allergies, the nurse said he has allergies and that he's not coming to pick him up because of this. Dude - I'm not the one that makes this decision. I'm not a medical professional.
